Opening Ceremony

Satuday evening was the Opening Ceromony. All countries lined-up to parade their flag from the sailing centre, through to the stadium that had been created overlooking the water. Carolina & Tom had played 'paper-scissors-rock' to decide who carried and Carolina won the honour.
The evening had a variety of speeches, musical acts and mock battles mounted by the local Viking clan on a big stage set in the town square.
Under orders from Suzannah our Kiwi coach, we got an early ride back to the hotel - missing the fireworks but earning a much needed rest for our 6 saiors which was still pretty late. With darkness not falling until 10:30pm here, and it being light again by 4:30am, its very easy to get insufficient sleep.
